Spring Break 2013

Spring Break is nearly over and I am so grateful for the time off of work and school that I wish I could spend another week at home. Here are some of the highlights of some of the things I did over the week.

Monday, March 25, 2013
I went to the Macy's Flower Show with FC in NYC. The flowers were beautifully arranged according to the South Asia inspired theme. Afterwards, we visited several stores and I ended up purchasing a green jacket and green pants from Zara, and FC well... I think Zara's become one of his favorite stores. We also tried the Smokeshack burger, fries, and Concrete Jungle from Shake Shack. Unfortunately, for once I did not photograph the burger :( The fries were so crunchy and scrumptious which was a pleasant surprise because I did not expect them to be as delicious as they were. The Concrete Jungle helped reduce the heat from the burger. I'd definitely recommend the place. One of the better burgers I've had in a while.

FC and I shopped at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, NY and ate at Red Robin. I purchased a navy/gold jacket from Zara. I had the All American Patty Melt and ordered the Electric Watermelon drink, while FC devoured the Banzai burger -his usual (third time ordering).

Went to L.A. Burdick in the city for chocolate tasting. It's a kind of place I can see myself sipping a hot cup of chocolate while holding a conversation. Ate Kal Bi at Kum Gan San Korean Restaurant in Manhattan. The food was pretty good. I forced FC to explore the Shoe Obsession exhibit at Fashion Institute of Technology. I loved the displays and found myself intrigued at Janina Alleyne's exoskeleton prototype. Later we headed back to Long Island to attend a Yelp Great Friday event at Coindre Hall... It looked a lot like a mixer but it was a lot of fun to munch on food and sip on some drinks, as well as observe other people's advances and admire how people dressed all fancy.

Did a lot of Spring cleaning and organizing. Still have a lot to catch up on :X

I purchased this dress from a seller on Etsy. I think it looks very stylish and cute. I can't wait to receive it, and I hope it lives up to my expectations. Even though winter is almost over, I doubt I will outgrow this dress and can look forward to wearing it in the fall or winter and maybe even in some days of Spring?

I have also been wanting a yellow bag, and a mint one. From exploring various department stores in three different malls and stores. I wish I could buy the Proenza Schouler yellow bag but $1995 is a bit too steep for me to justify, especially since I could probably plan a week-long travel elsewhere with that kind of money.
Instead, I have my heart set on this Tory Burch Robinson Mini Square Tote Bag which retails at $475. I was willing to spend up to $350 so $475 is a bit more than I anticipated. I probably have to wait a bit before I can purchase this bag...

Current Infatuations
Mint pants and chiffon blouses.

Future Plans
Over the summer I would like to visit Rockville Centre, Nautical Mile/Freeport, Fire Island, and the Hamptons. It would also be nice to go wine/beer tasting, and horseback riding over the summer.

I intend to go to Orlando, Florida towards the end of this year and will need to save up for that as well.

A Step Closer to a Healthier Life

Perhaps two years ago, I did a two-week Atkins diet which is known as the induction phase. I went from 110lbs to 96 lbs over a period of two weeks by eliminating carbohydrates and exercising twice a day. It was encouraging to know that I could discipline myself by restricting what I ate, and compelling myself to exercise on a daily basis.

I reached my goal and soon reverted back to my previous ways, and regained all the weight that I had lost. I didn't mind or felt discouraged nor did I feel like a failure because I did what I had set out to do.

Lately, I have started to feel very sluggish. Therefore, I have started to reincorporate exercise into my life with the goal of ultimately exercising at least 3-5 days a week and eating healthier foods.

I started yesterday on Saturday March 9 at 112lbs and did the Insanity workout (not the fit test). I felt like my body was deteriorating and crying for help as I clenched my fists and gasped for air. It was terrifying to realize how out of shape I have become. Now, I am not saying I am morbidly obese I am well aware that 112lbs is a decent weight. I am not saying, "I'm fat" in hopes that people will tell me otherwise. I know I am not fat. I just want to live a healthier life. Well, that and I want my face to look a bit slimmer without the use of plastic surgery :/.

Today is Day 2. I am trying to think of every possible excuse to delay the inevitable. My body is sore especially my calves, and lower back from Day 1. My Sunday brunch consisted of three hard-boiled eggs, spinach, some peanuts, and I snuck in a Ferrero Rocher. The gold foil wrapper taunted me and I said, "I MUST HAVE YOU!" So here I am now, feeling guilty for the crime I have committed. I need to exercise now :(

Han Joo Chik Naeng Myun Korean BBQ

Went to Han Joo Chik Naeng Myun Korean BBQ in Flushing, New York with FC, JY, and NT. Ordered pork that looks like fish and later went to get bubble tea. I chose the mung bean (i usually call it green bean) slush with boba (chewy tapoica pearls on the bottom of the drink) from Kung Fu Tea.
